Quality Technician – Pet Food Manufacturing
Salary: £30,000 – with flexibility up to £32,000 for the right candidate
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Cardiff
The Opportunity
A well-established pet food manufacturing business is looking for a Quality Technician to join its Cardiff production site. This is a standalone Quality role, reporting directly into the Quality Manager, with responsibility across both production and the finished goods warehouse.
The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Quality Technician within a food, pet food or FMCG manufacturing environment, with a strong eye for detail and the confidence to investigate issues, identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out raw material and finished product testing and monitor quality trends.
- Manage non-conformances, deviations, concessions and quarantined stock.
- Investigate quality issues and customer complaints, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Support production teams with quality standards, SOPs and process improvements.
- Coach and guide production staff on quality requirements and procedures.
- Maintain quality specifications, records and reports, including monthly KPI reporting.
- Support the Quality Manager with audits, compliance and continuous improvement.
- Work with Engineering, warehouse, suppliers and other internal teams to resolve quality issues.
- Monitor finished goods to ensure products are correctly labelled, undamaged and stored appropriately.
- Have the authority to stop production where quality or packaging standards are not met.

What They're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Quality Technician within a manufacturing/production environment.
- Ideally experience within food, pet food, FMCG or a similar regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience with product/material testing and quality control.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good understanding of quality procedures, non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Ability to carry out risk assessments and promote safe working practices.
- Good computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
