Market Research Associate | Quantitative Research & Trading

πŸ“ London | πŸ’Ό Hunter Bond | πŸš€ Career Path into Quant Recruitment

Hunter Bond is growing its Quantitative Research & Trading desk, and we're looking for a Market Research Associate to join the team.

This is an opportunity for someone who is naturally curious, analytical and interested in financial markets to get deep into the world of Quant Trading while building the foundations for a career in specialist recruitment.

You don't need previous recruitment experience.

Instead, you'll start by learning the market from the ground up, understanding the firms, the people, the strategies and the talent behind some of the world's leading hedge funds and proprietary trading firms.

You'll work closely with Amir, who joined Hunter Bond earlier this year to build our Quant Research & Trading desk. With 10+ years of experience across agency recruitment and internal talent acquisition at major hedge funds, Amir brings extensive experience of this exact market and will be closely involved in your development.

What will you actually be doing?

Your initial focus will be research and market intelligence.

You'll be figuring out who the key people are, where they work, what they're working on and where the movement is happening across the market.

You'll:

  • Map the global Quant Research, Quant Trading and Systematic Trading talent landscape
  • Research leading hedge funds, prop shops and market makers
  • Identify and track high-calibre quantitative talent
  • Build detailed talent pools and candidate pipelines
  • Monitor hiring trends, competitor activity and movement across the market
  • Support recruiters on live searches and specialist hiring projects
  • Develop a strong understanding of different firms, strategies and candidate backgrounds
  • Keep market and candidate intelligence organised across our internal systems

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer β€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right β€” and where to focus when applying.

And as your knowledge develops, your role develops with it.

You'll gradually move from research into candidate outreach, building relationships with people in the market and eventually conducting your own screening calls and conversations with senior Quant professionals.

Where can it take you?

This isn't designed to be a research role that you stay in indefinitely.

It's a pathway into becoming a specialist Quant recruiter.

You'll start by learning how the market works.

Then you'll start speaking to it.

Then you'll start owning it.

The aim is to give you the knowledge and confidence to progress into a full Recruitment Consultant position, with responsibility for your own candidates, relationships and desk.

Who are we looking for?

You don't need to be a Quant.

But you should be the kind of person who wants to understand how things work.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Naturally curious and interested in financial markets, trading or technology
  • Analytical and comfortable working with large amounts of information
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented
  • Confident communicating with people
  • Ambitious and motivated to progress
  • Comfortable working towards targets
  • A quick learner who enjoys getting to grips with complex subjects
  • Interested in eventually moving into a more commercial, candidate-facing role

A background in research, finance, recruitment, sales, market intelligence, economics, mathematics, computer science or another analytical discipline could be useful, but it's not essential.

What you'll get

  • Specialist training in Quantitative Trading and Recruitment
  • Direct mentorship from an experienced Quant recruitment specialist
  • Exposure to leading hedge funds, prop trading firms and market makers
  • A structured route from research β†’ candidate engagement β†’ recruitment
  • Competitive salary + performance-based incentives
  • The opportunity to build expertise in a genuinely niche market
  • A growing team where you can progress alongside the desk
  • A long-term career path within a specialist recruitment business

Why join now?

The Quant desk is still being built.

That means you're not stepping into a role where everything has already been decided β€” you'll be joining early and growing with it.

If you're someone who enjoys researching, learning and understanding niche markets but also wants a career that can eventually become highly commercial and relationship-driven, this could be a very good place to start.
