The Opportunity
We are seeking exceptional mathematicians and programmers to join our Quantitative Modelling Team. In the two years since its inception, the team has established itself as an integral part of Amelco, providing an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to play a significant role in the company's continued success.
Job Brief
As a Quantitative Analyst at Amelco, you will be responsible for developing advanced predictive sports models for both pre-game and in-play trading. While our primary focus is on soccer and basketball, closely followed by tennis and the other major North American sports, we are continually exploring opportunities to enter new markets.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement in-house statistical models, replacing reliance on external data feed providers.
- Contribute to internal code libraries to streamline the model development process.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in coding as the codebase continues to expand.
- Write tools for backtesting our models against the market and external pricing feeds.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance our technical platforms.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and statistical methodologies.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors/Masters in Mathematics, Statistics, Theoretical Physics, or similar.
- PhD in Statistics or another area involving lots of work with messy data (e.g., Physics, Computational Biology).
- Extensive background in Bayesian inference, state-space models, filtering algorithms, etc.
- Excellent programming skills and experience implementing efficient algorithms for high-dimensional problems. Any prior exposure to sports modelling would be a major advantage, but we will consider candidates with limited work experience.
