KDB+ / Q Engineer | High-Frequency Post-Execution Plant

A Tier-1 global investment bank is overhauling its core post-execution data infrastructure within its institutional securities division. Serving as the authoritative source for real-time and on-demand trading, risk, and reference data, this plant directly feeds exchanges, institutional clients, and internal analytics engines. The team needs a KDB+ Engineer to scale data ingestion, optimise system responsiveness, and reduce resource overhead.

Role Overview

You will design and implement ultra-low-latency KDB+/Q architectures that process high-volume trading data flows. Your focus centers on engineering robust reconciliation tools, onboarding complex fixed income datasets, and streamlining core platform pipelines.

Location

Glasgow

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimise Low-Latency Core: Fine-tune KDB+/Q database structures to drastically minimise latency and optimise system memory allocation under peak market loads.
  • Onboard Complex Market Flows: Collaborate directly with Fixed Income (FID) desks to design seamless data ingestion processes for real-time trading feeds.
  • Automate Post-Trade Reconciliations: Build automated, real-time reconciliation systems connecting internal plants with external exchanges and downstream consumers.
  • Ensure High-Availability Stability: Perform root-cause analysis and execute real-time production tuning to guarantee maximum uptime across global delivery flows.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
