Job Title

We are working with a macro hedge fund based in London (not a multi strat), who launched earlier this decade. They've had impressive growth in funding early on due to their reputation and performance, but still operate with a lean headcount and flat hierarchy. They are interested in hiring a Quantitative Engineer to build and own its data platform, which will sit directly within the quant team. They cover forecasting, AI, risk and pricing analytics and you'll work closely with PMs, quants and DevOps, owning the whole data lifecycle: getting data into the firm, storing and versioning it, and serving it to the people and systems that use it. Building something reliable, scalable and easy to build on matters here.

This is an opportunity to join a highly successful team in what is a greenfield build out and development of a data platform used by the front office.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
