Octavius Finance - Quantitative Developer Role
Octavius Finance is collaborating with a prominent hedge fund to construct a new market-neutral, quantamental equity platform. They are seeking a Quantitative Developer to join the team and assume responsibility for the development, reliability, and scalability of the platform that supports the firm's quantitative research.
This role is not purely software engineering or quant research. You will operate at the convergence of quant research, data engineering, and software development, leveraging technology to address research challenges and transform concepts into robust production systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and develop the firm's quantitative research and production platform.
- Work extensively with large datasets, including cleaning, validation, and transformation.
- Develop robust, reusable Python libraries, data pipelines, and research tools.
- Take ownership of the full production lifecycle: coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and QA.
- Monitor production systems and respond to issues to ensure minimal downtime.
- Work closely with the quant research team to develop and test investment ideas and signals.
- Support backtesting and simulation of medium-frequency strategies.
- Help establish the technology infrastructure as the platform scales.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
