Role Summary
This role sits within the Actuarial Modelling & Valuations Capability team and focuses on advancing quantitative and statistical modelling capabilities.
The role is responsible for developing and enhancing models through the application of advanced analytics, including data science, machine learning, and proxy modelling techniques.
The role combines deep technical expertise with a forward-looking approach to innovation, supporting improvements in model accuracy, efficiency, and insight generation. It contributes to the evolution of modelling practices by delivering robust, scalable solutions aligned to business priorities.
Alongside technical delivery, the role has significant responsibility for leading a multi-skilled team of actuaries, data scientists, and technical specialists. It requires strong stakeholder engagement across actuarial, risk, finance, and technology teams to ensure effective collaboration and alignment.
Artificial intelligence will be applied as part of a broader modelling toolkit, supporting innovation and efficiency.
The role operates with a strong focus on continuous improvement, delivering practical outcomes while developing people and capabilities across the team.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the development and enhancement of quantitative and statistical models, including proxy modelling techniques.
- Manage a multi-disciplinary team of actuaries, data scientists, and technical experts, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Apply a range of analytical approaches, including data science and machine learning, to develop and enhance models, designing and implementing scalable modelling solutions to support valuation and reporting processes.
- Use artificial intelligence as part of the broader modelling toolkit to support innovation and efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing.
- Drive strong stakeholder engagement, working closely with cross-functional teams to align priorities and deliver outcomes.
- Translate business requirements into robust and practical modelling approaches.
- Ensure all models meet governance, validation, and documentation standards.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and optimise modelling processes.

- Strong expertise in quantitative and statistical modelling techniques.
- Experience with proxy modelling and a range of advanced analytical approaches.
- Experience in leading and developing multi-skilled technical teams.
- Understanding of data science, machine learning, and the practical application of AI within modelling.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient modelling solutions.
- Strong understanding of model governance, validation, and controls.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
