About Us
Divergent Markets is an algorithmic trading company with a small team based in London. We’re looking for a quantitative researcher to develop and improve systematic trading strategies in sports markets.
Job Description
You’ll work across the full process, from analysing data and building models to implementing strategies and evaluating their performance in live trading. Previous sports experience isn’t required.
What you’ll do
- Analyse historical and live data to identify and test trading opportunities.
- Build statistical models to estimate probabilities and price sports markets.
- Develop backtests that account for transaction costs, liquidity, execution and data leakage.
- Work with our developers to put models and strategies into production.
- Monitor live results and improve pricing, execution and risk controls.
- Use AI coding tools to build, test and iterate quickly, taking responsibility for the correctness and quality of the code.

What we’re looking for
- At least two years’ professional experience in quantitative research, systematic trading or a closely related modelling role.
- Strong Python skills and a solid understanding of probability, statistics and model validation.
- Experience working with real datasets, testing hypotheses and evaluating strategies beyond headline backtest results.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants or agents, with the ability to review, debug and test their output.
- A PhD in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science or a related quantitative discipline is preferred, but not required.
- Someone comfortable owning projects, making decisions and working independently in a small team.

What we offer
- £110,000–£140,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus a performance-related bonus.
- Remote working. Being based in London is a bonus for occasional in-person collaboration.
