Company Description

Pace XL is a high-growth London management consultancy (FT1000, 257% CAGR) transforming the operations of global law firms. They build digital twins—sophisticated models of firm economics and workflows—for elite clients like Hogan Lovells and Linklaters, helping leaders simulate outcomes and track value through rigorous technical solutions.

Job Description

As a Quantitative Software Engineer at Pace XL, you will own the end-to-end development of optimization algorithms and simulation models. You'll translate ambiguous operational problems into mathematical formulations, engineer the data pipelines that power them, and deploy these as production-grade systems to help global law firms optimize their economics and workflows.

Location

London, UK (Remote)

  • Work on high-impact digital twins that provide real-time operational visibility and simulation capabilities for the world's leading global law firms.

  • Earn a premium day rate of £700-£800 while maintaining a remote-friendly UK work-life balance and high technical ownership over production systems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The ideal candidate

  • Proven experience in mathematical modeling, optimization, or operations research combined with strong production software engineering skills.
  • Skilled in data engineering and comfortable working with messy, real-world datasets to build reliable, production-ready simulation models.
