Quantity Surveyor
Location: South East London
Salary: £60,000–£80,000 per annum, depending on experience
Join a well-established, family-run scaffolding business where people genuinely stay. We’re working with a successful scaffolding subcontractor based in South East London who are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their close-knit team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a family-run business with an excellent reputation, a strong pipeline of work and an incredibly low staff turnover. Unlike larger, more corporate organisations, this is a business where people are valued, relationships matter, and employees are given the opportunity to build a long-term career.
With a competitive salary of £60,000–£80,000 on offer, this role would suit a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with experience in scaffolding, construction or a related subcontracting environment.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of scaffolding projects, working closely with the operational team, clients and senior management to ensure projects are delivered profitably and efficiently.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of scaffolding projects from inception through to final account.
- Preparing, reviewing and submitting valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Measuring and valuing variations, additional works and changes to scope.
- Monitoring project costs, budgets, cash flow and commercial performance.
- Managing subcontractor accounts and ensuring costs are accurately recorded.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, main contractors and project teams.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project profitability.
- Working closely with the management and operational teams to support the successful delivery of projects.
- Ensuring contractual obligations, payment terms and commercial deadlines are met.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
