Quantity Surveyor

Project: Major Hyperscale Data Centre

Position: Full-time | Site-based / Mon-Fri or if travelling from far, 10/4 + accommodation + travel.

We are recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team delivering one of the UK’s largest data centre developments in Blyth, Northumberland.

This is an opportunity to work on a major hyperscale programme, managing significant MEP and/or CSA packages within a complex, fast-paced construction environment.

The successful candidate will take commercial ownership of their packages from procurement through construction, change management, and final account.

Experience delivering data centres, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor facilities, cleanrooms, or other mission-critical infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous.

You will be joining the delivery team on a major hyperscale data centre development, providing exposure to complex CSA, electrical, and mechanical packages on one of the most significant digital infrastructure programmes currently being developed in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Take commercial responsibility for major MEP / CSA packages.
  • Manage project budgets, cost plans, forecasts, and monthly commercial reporting.
  • Lead subcontractor procurement, tender analysis, and commercial negotiations.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts including valuations, variations, payments, and final accounts.
  • Assess and manage change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor package costs, commitments, and cash flow against budget.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and provide clear reporting to the Commercial Manager.
  • Prepare and submit interim valuations and applications for payment.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Package Managers, and Engineering teams.
  • Attend commercial, progress, and subcontractor meetings.
  • Ensure contractual notices, records, and supporting commercial documentation are maintained.
  • Negotiate and agree subcontractor final accounts.
  • Provide commercial support across the wider project delivery team.

Experience Required

  • Significant Quantity Surveying experience within a main contractor or specialist contractor environment.
  • Strong experience managing large construction packages from procurement through to final account.
  • Experience across Mechanical, Electrical, CSA, or major infrastructure packages.
  • Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and commercial management.
  • Confident managing variations, change control, and contractual issues.
  • Strong negotiation and financial reporting skills.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
