Quantity Surveyor Opportunity in Ramsgate
An established civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in the Ramsgate area.
About the Role
The business delivers a varied portfolio of civil engineering projects, and this position would suit a Quantity Surveyor with previous experience working within a civil engineering, groundworks, or infrastructure environment.
Experience across heavy civils, groundworks, earthworks, rail, or sea defence projects would be particularly relevant.
Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities
- Working closely with the operational and commercial teams, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account.
- Preparation and submission of applications for payment and variations
- Preparation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations and cost/value forecasts
- Reviewing site records and documentation to support variations, additional payments, and claims
- Procurement and negotiation of subcontractor and material packages
- Commercial management of subcontractors through to final account
- Preparation of forward work schedules and cash flow forecasts
- Ensuring contractual notices and correspondence are issued correctly and on time
- Monitoring payments and working closely with the accounts team
- Providing commercial support to site and contracts management teams
- Working alongside estimating and procurement teams
- Liaising directly with clients on commercial matters and developing strong working relationships

Quantity Surveyor Requirements
The ideal candidate will have previous Quantity Surveying experience within civil engineering, groundworks, or infrastructure.
You could currently be working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to progress or an established Quantity Surveyor looking for a new long-term opportunity.

You should be commercially aware, comfortable dealing with subcontractors and clients, and confident managing the commercial requirements of projects with support from the wider team.
