Intermediate Quantity Surveyor
Location: Berkshire
Salary: £45,000 – £65,000 depending on experience
Experience: Approximately 3–5 years’ industry experience
An established and growing construction business is looking to appoint an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, working across a varied portfolio of projects throughout Berkshire and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with around 3–5 years’ experience who is looking to take the next step in their career, gain further responsibility and develop their commercial expertise across a mixed range of sectors.
The Role
Working closely with the wider commercial and project teams, you will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, supporting the successful financial and commercial delivery of projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to completion
- Preparing and reviewing budgets, cost plans and forecasts
- Subcontractor procurement, negotiation and management
- Preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
- Monitoring project costs, variations and change control
- Producing regular commercial reports and cost/value reconciliations
- Supporting project teams with commercial and contractual advice
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers

About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Approximately 3–5 years’ experience within the construction industry
- Experience working in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role
- Exposure to a range of construction sectors/projects
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
- A proactive approach and genuine desire to progress their career
- Ideally, a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related subject, or someone currently undertaking a relevant degree
- A good understanding of construction contracts, procurement and commercial processes
