About The Opportunity

Join OCU Group as a Quantity Surveyor and play a key role in delivering major power infrastructure projects across Scotland. Working across substation and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) schemes, you'll support the commercial management of projects from tender handover through to final account. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within the growing energy and infrastructure sector, working on projects that directly support the UK's energy transition. You'll work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered commercially, safely, and successfully. If you enjoy managing project costs, building relationships, and driving commercial performance, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from inception through to final account.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Support applications for payment, valuations, invoicing, and cash collection activities.
  • Administer contracts, subcontractor accounts, variations, compensation events, and change control processes.
  • Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including tender preparation, evaluation, and negotiation.
  • Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance and project margins.
  • Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and support mitigation strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures, and commercial governance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
