The Role We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with approximately 2–5 years’ professional experience to join our growing team.
Working as a client-side Quantity Surveyor / Cost Consultant, you will be involved across the full lifecycle of construction projects, from initial feasibility and early cost planning through design development, procurement, construction, and final account.
This position is suited to a Quantity Surveyor who has developed a strong foundation of technical and commercial experience and is now looking to take the next step in their career. You will be given the opportunity to take greater ownership of projects and workstreams, develop direct relationships with clients, and work alongside highly experienced construction professionals.
You will work closely with our Directors and senior team while being encouraged to develop the confidence and experience required to independently manage commissions as your career progresses.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional cost consultancy services across all stages of construction projects
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day cost management of projects and individual workstreams
- Prepare feasibility estimates, elemental cost plans, budgets, and detailed cost reports
- Undertake accurate measurement & prepare Bills of Quantities, schedules of works etc.
- Lead and contribute to cost planning exercises throughout the design development process
- Provide clear and commercially focused cost advice to clients and project teams
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets & provide regular cost reporting & forecasting
- Identify potential cost risks and opportunities and advise clients on appropriate mitigation measures
- Assist in developing and implementing procurement and tendering strategies
- Prepare tender and contract documentation and manage tender processes
- Undertake detailed analysis of contractor tenders and prepare tender reports and recommendations
- Manage post-contract commercial activities, including valuations, variations, change control, payment recommendations, and cost reporting
- Prepare, negotiate, and agree final accounts
- Attend and contribute to client, design team, progress, and commercial meetings
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Manage project records and ensure commercial and contractual documentation is maintained to a high standard
- Manage smaller commissions independently, with appropriate support from senior colleagues
- Support Directors and senior team members in the delivery of larger, more complex commissions
- Assist and support junior members of the team as your experience develops

About You We are looking for someone who combines strong technical quantity surveying skills with commercial awareness, professionalism, and the confidence to communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
The successful candidate should ideally have:
- Approximately 2–5 years’ professional Quantity Surveying experience
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, preferably First-Class Honours or 2:1
- Previous experience within a quantity surveying / cost consultancy environment
- MRICS status or be actively working towards achieving Chartered Quantity Surveyor status through the RICS APC pathway
- Strong measurement and cost planning skills
- Experience preparing Bills of Quantities, cost plans, tender documentation, & cost reports
- Practical experience of both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying
- A good knowledge of construction technology, procurement methods, & construction contracts
- Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence when dealing directly with clients, contractors, and professional consultants
- A professional, organised, and methodical approach to work
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to agreed deadlines
- The confidence to take ownership of tasks and individual workstreams
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Experience using industry-standard bill production & measurement software
- A proactive attitude and genuine ambition to continue developing professionally
- Willingness to travel to projects and client meetings across the UK and Ireland as required
