Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: North West England
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Quantity Surveyor: Up to £65,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus
Senior Quantity Surveyor: Up to £80,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for 2 Quantity Surveyors and 2 Senior Quantity Surveyors to join an established and growing civil engineering and utilities contractor operating across the North West.
With a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming projects, the business is continuing to expand its commercial team to support the delivery of projects across the Water, Utilities and Civil Engineering sectors.

The Role
Working as part of an established commercial team, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities will include:
- Commercial management of civil engineering, water and utilities projects
- Preparation and management of applications, valuations and variations
- Cost forecasting, reporting and budget management
- Subcontractor procurement, appointment and commercial management
- Preparation and assessment of subcontractor payments
- Identification and management of commercial risk and opportunity
- Administration of NEC and other relevant forms of contract
- Working closely with Project Managers, operational teams and clients
- Monitoring project performance against agreed commercial targets
- Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation

Senior Quantity Surveyor
Senior Quantity Surveyors will take greater commercial ownership of projects and may be responsible for managing multiple schemes or larger, more complex projects.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Taking commercial responsibility for projects from contract award through to final account
- Providing commercial guidance to project and operational teams
- Managing contractual risk, change and commercial strategy
- Leading negotiations with clients and subcontractors
- Producing accurate forecasts and senior-level commercial reporting
- Supporting and mentoring Quantity Surveyors and junior commercial staff
- Working closely with senior management to maximise project performance and profitability
About You
Applications are welcomed from Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors with experience across civil engineering, utilities, water, infrastructure, highways, groundworks or other relevant contracting environments.
Previous water industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience working within a Quantity Surveying or commercial role
- Experience within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure
- Good understanding of commercial and contractual processes
- Knowledge of NEC contracts would be advantageous
- Strong cost management and forecasting skills
- Good negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively alongside operational and project teams
- Relevant Quantity Surveying or commercial qualification, or equivalent industry experience
- Full UK driving licence

For the Senior Quantity Surveyor positions, applicants should be comfortable taking significant commercial responsibility for projects and working with minimal supervision.
