Shape the commercial success of major infrastructure projects

As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in the commercial and contractual management of a significant portfolio of projects across our network. Managing contracts worth up to £20m, you’ll ensure robust cost control, contract compliance, accurate reporting and value for money delivery across complex programmes.

Working closely with Commercial Managers, Senior Quantity Surveyors, contractors and Local Delivery Partners, you'll be at the forefront of managing compensation events, commercial change, contract administration and cost assurance activities. This is a highly visible and fast paced role that combines commercial expertise with hands-on site engagement, ensuring projects remain commercially sound while supporting successful delivery outcomes.

You'll be responsible for overseeing a portfolio that includes major programmes such as MRP and LDP projects, validating completed works, challenging costs, assessing compensation events and ensuring contractor payments are appropriate and accurate. With regular site visits across the network and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, no two days will be the same.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a growing utilities environment, with the opportunity to mentor or manage an Assistant Quantity Surveyor and contribute to the continuous improvement of our commercial practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
