Quantity Surveyor - Glasgow - Electrical Construction Projects

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects from inception through to completion. This role will play a critical part in ensuring projects are delivered within budget while maintaining compliance with contractual obligations and industry regulations.
Working closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors, the successful candidate will provide commercial guidance, cost control, contract administration, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cost plans for projects.
- Conduct feasibility assessments covering labour, materials, and programme costs.
- Monitor project expenditure and ensure commercial performance remains on target.
- Manage contracts and negotiate commercial terms with clients and subcontractors.
- Prepare, review, and administer contractual documentation.
- Assess variations, negotiate agreements, and maintain accurate commercial records.
- Produce monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports and financial forecasts.
- Prepare and submit interim valuations and applications for payment.
- Review, assess, and certify subcontractor applications and payments.
- Manage final accounts and close-out activities with clients and suppliers.
- Prepare tender documentation, bills of quantities, and commercial submissions.
- Evaluate contractor and subcontractor tenders.
- Identify commercial risks and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Provide contractual advice and support throughout project delivery.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or equivalent qualification.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial processes, and legal regulations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience using cost estimation and commercial management software.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Civil engineering or structural engineering project experience.
- Construction project management experience.
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification such as CSCS, UKPIA, or equivalent.
- Membership of RICS or progression towards chartership.
