Quantity Surveyor – Groundworks & Civil Engineering

Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time

About The Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction and civil engineering contractor working on a major project in Port Talbot.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of groundworks and civil engineering packages, working closely with the project and commercial teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial aspects of groundworks and civil engineering packages.
- Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, payments, variations and change.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts and commercial performance.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Review and agree subcontractor quotations and packages.
- Measure works completed and maintain accurate commercial records.
- Assist with procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
- Manage variations, compensation events and contractual changes.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Prepare regular cost reports and commercial forecasts.
- Ensure contractual notices and commercial correspondence are issued within required timescales.

Requirements
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks, civils or construction for a subcontractor
- Sustained periods of time in employment
- Good understanding of NEC4 contracts would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with site and project teams.
- HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is desirable.
- Ability to measure to SMM7
