Quantity Surveyor

Mitie Power & Grid - Major Projects

Location: Hybrid Working | UK Wide Projects

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Reporting To: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager

Join One of the UK's Fastest-Growing Infrastructure Sectors

The UK's transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy network is driving unprecedented investment in electricity infrastructure.

At Mitie Power & Grid, we're delivering major projects that will help power the future of the UK, including grid connections, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, cable infrastructure, and network reinforcement works.

We're looking for a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Major Projects team and support the successful delivery of high-value infrastructure projects across the UK.

Whether your experience comes from power, utilities, civil engineering, rail, highways, water, M&E, or the wider construction sector, this is an exciting opportunity to develop your commercial career in a business operating at the forefront of the energy transition.

Working within a hybrid environment, you'll be part of a collaborative team supporting project delivery from pre-construction through to final account, gaining exposure to complex projects, experienced commercial professionals, and major UK infrastructure programmes.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of major projects throughout their lifecycle, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, clients, and supply chain partners to manage costs, administer contracts, support change management, and maintain strong commercial controls.

The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop within a growing business and build a long-term career within the Power & Grid sector.

Main Duties

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management

  • Support the commercial management of major infrastructure projects and work packages.
  • Prepare and update project cost reports, forecasts, and cost plans.
  • Assist in the production of Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Support the delivery of project margin and cash collection targets.

Contract Administration

  • Assist with the administration of NEC, JCT, FIDIC, and other forms of contract.
  • Support change management processes including compensation events, variations, and change control.
  • Prepare contractual correspondence and notices where required.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of client applications for payment.
  • Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.

Supply Chain Management

  • Support subcontractor procurement activities including tender enquiries and evaluations.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of subcontract agreements.
  • Measure and value subcontract works.
  • Review subcontractor applications, variations, and final accounts.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
