Quantity Surveyor – Construction, Refurbishment & Fit-Out | Manchester | £50,000-£60,000

The Opportunity

An established construction contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of refurbishment and fit-out projects.

Working alongside the operational and commercial teams, you will manage subcontract packages, monitor project expenditure and help maintain commercial control throughout each project’s lifecycle. The position offers a varied workload across office and project environments, with responsibility from procurement through to final account.

This opportunity would suit a commercially aware Quantity Surveyor who is organised, accurate and comfortable working in a fast-moving contracting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce quantity take-offs from drawings to support procurement, subcontractor valuations and variation pricing.
  • Complete site measurements and verify completed works.
  • Review invoices against agreed purchase orders and project costs.
  • Support the selection, assessment and appointment of subcontractors.
  • Prepare and issue tender enquiries to the supply chain.
  • Analyse subcontractor quotations and tender returns.
  • Prepare subcontract agreements and purchase orders covering labour, materials and preliminaries.
  • Take commercial responsibility for subcontract packages from initial procurement through to final account.
  • Review subcontractor applications and assess payments.
  • Identify, value and manage client and subcontractor variations.
  • Maintain accurate cost records and support project reporting and forecasting.
  • Monitor warranties, appointments and associated documentation through to execution.
  • Attend subcontractor, project and internal commercial meetings.
  • Assist with tenders through measurement, supplier engagement, pricing and analysis.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
