A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a strong Commercial team on a permanent basis. Working across mixed tenure housing developments, you will provide comprehensive quantity surveying support across multiple projects located in the Midlands, ensuring commercial procedures are followed and risks and opportunities are effectively managed to maximise project success.

You will play a key role throughout the procurement, construction and completion stages of residential developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage subcontract procurement, ensuring best value is achieved and buying opportunities are maximised.
  • Identify, monitor and report project commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Produce accurate Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and project forecasts.
  • Prepare and maintain cashflow forecasts and subcontractor accruals.
  • Manage subcontractor vetting, including credit checks, insurance, CIS and banking requirements.
  • Administer affordable housing contracts and associated commercial requirements.
  • Collate third-party rebate information for indirect expenditure.
  • Undertake regular site visits to review subcontract valuations and affordable housing progress.
  • Support the resolution of subcontractor disputes and assist with relevant contractual correspondence.
  • Work closely with internal teams including Construction, Design and Technical teams to ensure commercial success.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within residential housebuilding.
  • Experience managing mixed tenure housing developments.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, technical specifications, drawings and programmes.
  • Experience measuring from scale drawings using Bluebeam or similar software.
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel and Word, with experience using COINS.
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract, including JCT, affordable housing agreements and trade contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A methodical and organised approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A full UK driving licence.

The role offers a competitive basic salary £50,000–£60,000, plus car allowance, bonus scheme, pension and life assurance. The package also includes competitive annual leave, the option to purchase additional days and more.
