QUANTITY SURVEYOR
Contract: Government
Location: Canary Wharf, London / Weybridge, Surrey
Hours of work: 40 Hours Per Week
Contract Type: Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Capital Projects team for a government client.
In this role, you will be pivotal in delivering cost management and commercial support across a portfolio of projects operating under NEC4 contracts, ensuring financial control, compliance, and value delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Description
We are looking for a commercially focused professional who can implement and sustain high standards of cost management, provide commercial governance and oversight across capital projects and maintenance activities, and support the development of supply chain strategies, compliance frameworks, and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
- Monitor and report on financial performance against agreed targets, with accountability for project P&L performance.
- Administer NEC4 contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Identify, assess, and manage contract risks, providing mitigation strategies where required.
- Prepare tender documentation, evaluate submissions, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value.
- Review and certify applications for payment and prepare accurate interim and final valuations.
- Assess and manage variations, compensation events, and claims, maintaining comprehensive financial records.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, suppliers, and senior stakeholders to provide commercial advice, support governance requirements, and drive best practice across project delivery.

About You
- Qualified Quantity Surveyor with a Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
- Proven post qualification experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction and/or FM industry, preferably within Government, corporate, or education environments.
- Strong knowledge of NEC4 contract administration is essential.
- Demonstrable expertise in cost management, tendering, and procurement processes.
- Experience with applications for payment, valuations, change control, and risk management.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to price contractual changes.
- Experience managing concurrent projects or programmes with a combined annual value of £5m or above.
- Experience estimating project costs and presenting high-quality tender evaluation documentation to customers.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Power BI, alongside cost management systems such as Coupa and online project tools including Monday.com.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
