Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Bath, Somerset

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established Building team delivering a varied portfolio of projects across Bath, Somerset and the surrounding areas.

You will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects typically ranging from GBP500k to GBP5m, covering sectors including healthcare, education, refurbishment, fit-out, and occupied buildings.

This is an ideal role for a commercially focused QS who enjoys working closely with operational teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors and wants genuine responsibility from procurement through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial delivery of multiple building projects
  • Lead subcontractor procurement and commercial management
  • Prepare valuations, applications, forecasts, and CVRs
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance
  • Manage variations, claims, and commercial risks
  • Negotiate subcontractor and client accounts
  • Lead final account preparation and settlement
  • Identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities
  • Work closely with Project Managers and site teams
  • Provide guidance and support to junior commercial staff

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Background within main contracting or building
  • Experience managing projects valued between GBP500k and GBP10m
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
  • Experience across refurbishment, fit-out, healthcare, or education projects
  • Experience working within live or occupied environments is advantageous
  • Confident negotiator with excellent communication skills
  • RICS qualified or working towards qualification is desirable
