Role Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple projects from inception through to final account. Working closely with project teams, clients and supply chain partners, you will help ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standards whilst maintaining effective commercial and contractual control throughout the project lifecycle. All duties must be carried out in accordance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend project handover meetings and input new project data into company systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of project budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and cost control measures.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities across multiple projects.
  • Prepare monthly cost and value reports and undertake cost reconciliations.
  • Prepare, submit and negotiate project valuations and variations.
  • Assist in the procurement, selection and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prepare, negotiate and administer subcontract accounts.
  • Manage project change control processes with clients and supply chain partners.
  • Produce cash flow forecasts, progress reports and commercial updates.
  • Contribute to the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to project delivery teams.
  • Manage multiple projects whilst maintaining accurate cost records and commercial reporting.
  • Report directly to the Surveying Manager.

Skills & Competencies

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of standard forms of contract, including JCT, SBCC and NEC.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical capability.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Customer-focused, proactive and responsive approach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Desirable

  • Experience within the Mechanical & Electrical sector.
  • Experience working for a building services or construction contractor.
  • Experience managing multiple project simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of subcontract procurement and supply chain management.
  • Experience preparing and agreeing valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Experience supporting project forecasting, cash flow management and commercial reporting.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, or demonstrable equivalent industry experience.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a recognised professional body (e.g. RICS).
  • Additional qualifications in Construction Management, Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying.
