We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a permanent basis. The main purpose of the role is to strengthen the Commercial team, ensuring always that robust commercial astuteness is applied to all projects to maximise profit and reduce risk. Thorough, timely and accurate commercial reporting will be integral to the role to form the basis of all forecasting and budgetary requirements.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Provide support to the Senior QS and Head of Commercial in the production of robust, timely and accurate commercial reports in line with the company’s requirements, including but not limited to cost value reports (CVRs), including IFS data management updates, end life forecasting (ELF) and earned value management (EVM)
  • Work closely with the Operational team and Planning function to maximise the potential of each project, attend site meetings when necessary to discuss the commercial position.
  • Update any associated commercial reports and ensure any knock-on effects to the business unit are reporting back through the correct channels.
  • Work with the QS / Commercial Manager to ensure that the commercial function interfaces effectively with other departments and the customer.
  • Collate information from site capturing change.
  • Issue measurement of works and comparisons to client issued scopes to monitor accuracy, compliance and recovery of correct entitlements.
  • Produce and submit monthly applications for payments for all schemes within the division, including all requisite substantiation, evidence and or any specified supporting documentation as required, ensuring always that they are completed and submitted in line with the prescribed contractual requirements and timescales
  • Provide support in the managing of WIP and debt exposure, ensuring always that exposure days are minimised and cash recovered is expedited to ensure a positive cash position.
  • Support and assist in the recovery of contract costs together with enhancing project profit by identifying variations, delays and claims
  • Assist in all aspects of subcontract management, including initial procurement, value analysis and order placement, through to monitoring, measuring, valuing and agreeing the final account. Ensuring that all process and procedure is followed and the appropriate document and contract administration is observed at all times

What You Will Bring

  • Previous Quantity Surveying experience
  • Good communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Committed to achieving deadlines
  • Commercial controls and reporting
  • Budgeting and contracts costing
  • Contract and Construction law and legislation
  • Driving licence
  • Construction industry experience (desirable)
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying (desirable)
