About the Company

This Tier 1 building contractor specialises in delivering multimillion-pound projects across the health, education, community and Ministry of Justice sectors. The Role

The company is seeking a skilled QS, either at project surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor level, to join its friendly and professional commercial team in Exeter. Your new role will involve overseeing the financial and contractual management of multimillion pound projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to exceptional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and managing project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts
  • Conducting cost analysis and financial risk assessments
  • Administering contracts, including JCT and NEC forms, ensuring full compliance
  • Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers to secure cost-effective agreements
  • Preparing interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Collaborating with project teams to monitor progress and address commercial challenges
  • Delivering accurate cost reporting and forecasting to senior management
  • Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations

About the Candidate:

  • Ideally you'll hold or be working towards a degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Experience in commercial project delivery sectors such as health and education
  • Possess strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Exhibit strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Proficient in cost management software
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Have RICS qualification or be actively working towards it (desirable)
