Quantity Surveyor - Major Infrastructure Projects

Location: Swindon

Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking to work on some of the UK's most high-profile infrastructure projects? We're recruiting on behalf of a leading consultancy for an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative commercial team supporting major programmes across the utilities, defence, aviation, energy, highways, and rail sectors.

This is a client-facing role, with the opportunity to work directly within client teams through long-term secondments, gaining invaluable project experience while developing your career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in the commercial delivery of complex infrastructure projects, working closely with project managers, contractors, and client stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project teams, and contractors.
  • Monitor and control project costs, ensuring projects are delivered within budget.
  • Validate contractor and supplier costs, applications, and payments.
  • Produce regular commercial and financial reports, presenting cost performance and risk updates.
  • Support procurement activities, including contractor evaluation and appointment.
  • Administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Manage contract variations, assessing validity, reviewing quotations, and agreeing changes.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks while supporting value engineering initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records alongside project management teams.
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues, contributing to the development of the wider commercial team.

About You

We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Membership of, or progress towards, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or an equivalent professional body.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of standard UK construction contracts, including NEC, ICC, FIDIC, or JCT.
  • Strong commercial, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience supporting or mentoring junior team members.
