Plymouth – Hybrid working

Role requires visits to sites and offices in varying locations

£40,000-£45,000


We are working with a consultancy to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team. Responsible for the financial and commercial activities of your projects and delegating tasks to more junior surveyors and administration / support staff.

The Roles May Include (but Not Be Limited To)

  • Standard QS roles including taking off, preparing cost estimates, cost reporting, valuation, final account settlement etc
  • Preparing and presenting cost estimates
  • Recording and tracking cost trends
  • Supervision of junior surveyors requires an element of mentoring and coaching to ensure their onward personal development
  • Carry out a traditional QS role
  • Prepare tender documentation and produce tender reports
  • Ensure that all documentation is in place to go to contract. Prepare contract documents
  • Convene, chair and minute progress meetings
  • Prepare valuations, organise proper documentation and report costs to client. Manage the completion of the final account.
  • Manage, instruct and report on changes / variations.
  • Be aware of fee stages and advise Directors when these are reached. Be commercially aware.
  • Nurture and develop clients

My client has two regional offices, Plymouth & Exeter. The appointed person can work within either location.

About You

  • 2-3 years experience with a consultancy, developer or contractor
  • The post holder must be a self-starter with good interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills are essential for liaison with clients, negotiation with constructors and reporting to senior management.
  • The role requires a clear understanding of the learning needs of junior surveyors with the ability to assist in their development and provide motivation where necessary.

On Offer

  • Salary ranging from £40,000-£45,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working arrangements, minimum of 2 days working in the office
