At Emtec Energy, we're helping businesses take control of their energy future through the design and delivery of large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage projects as well as complex energy infrastructure schemes. We're playing a key role in the UK's transition to net zero.

As our project portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team and play a key role in ensuring our projects are delivered successfully from both a commercial and financial perspective.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you'll be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, helping to ensure projects are commercially robust, financially controlled and positioned for success.

  • You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and the wider commercial team, providing valuable insight, managing risk, protecting margins and supporting project delivery from award through to completion.
  • Whether its producing accurate forecasts, managing subcontractors, valuing variations or supporting NEC contract administration, you’ll be a trusted commercial partner helping our teams make informed decisions every step of the way.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing project costs, valuations and overall commercial performance
  • Preparing and maintaining cash flow forecasts and cost/value reports (CVRs)
  • Supporting the administration of NEC contracts, including compensation events and change management
  • Preparing applications for payment and ensuring timely invoicing
  • Valuing and managing variations and additional works
  • Reviewing and authorising subcontractor applications and payments
  • Drafting and managing subcontract orders and purchase orders
  • Monitoring project forecasts and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Building positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders
  • Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget and programme
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
