Quantity Surveyor
Fire Door Inspection Solutions (FDIS) – part of the IDSL Group
Salary: £38,000–£40,000 plus company or car allowance
Location: Mansfield
Role Type: Full-time, Permanent
Fire Door Inspection Solutions (FDIS), part of the IDSL Group, is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Commercial team.
Based from our Mansfield office and reporting to the Commercial Director, you’ll play a key role in managing the financial and commercial performance of fire door and passive fire protection projects.
You’ll work closely with operational teams, customers and contractors to agree costs, monitor project performance, prepare payment applications and ensure projects remain commercially on track.
This is a varied role combining office and site-based work, giving you visibility of projects from both a commercial and operational perspective.
Fire Door Inspection Solutions also manufactures its fire doors in-house, giving the business greater control over quality, supply and delivery and providing the Commercial team with close links to both our operational and manufacturing functions.

What you’ll be doing
- Managing the financial and commercial performance of projects
- Supporting operational teams with day-to-day commercial matters
- Preparing, reviewing and agreeing cost estimates with customers
- Compiling and submitting payment applications
- Monitoring project costs, budgets and forecasts
- Tracking project performance and identifying commercial risks
- Attending sites to review works and project progress
- Working closely with Project Managers and operational teams
- Managing variations and ensuring changes to scope are commercially captured
- Reviewing contract requirements and ensuring commercial obligations are understood
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation
- Liaising directly with customers, contractors and other key stakeholders
- Supporting the Commercial Director with reporting and financial information
- Helping ensure projects are delivered commercially and financially in line with business expectations

What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role
- Experience working for a main contractor or subcontractor
- Experience supporting projects across the public and/or private sectors
- Strong financial and commercial awareness
- Good understanding of project costs, budgets and forecasting
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Confident customer-facing and communication skills
- Ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
- Previous experience within passive fire protection
- Knowledge of fire doors and compartmentation works
