This is a part-time, fixed-term opportunity for 18 months
The Role
The Construction Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the commercial and financial side of Phase 1 Yard Transformation related projects. This includes cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and financial control to ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining profitability and compliance.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Cost Management & Budget Control
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for construction projects
- Monitor project costs and identify potential cost risks and opportunities
- Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to senior management
- Ensure cost efficiency and value for money throughout the project lifecycle
Procurement & Tendering
- Prepare tender documentation, bills of quantities (BoQ), and pricing schedules
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor tenders and provide recommendations

Contract Administration
- Administer construction contracts & manage variations, change orders, and claims
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and legal requirements
Valuations & Payments
- Prepare interim valuations and final accounts
- Assess subcontractor applications for payment & Issue payment certificates
Risk & Value Management
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and value engineering strategies
- Monitor financial exposure across projects
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and consultants
- Support project teams with commercial expertise
- Provide advice on contractual and financial matters

Key Skills & Competencies Required
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Knowledge of construction contracts and procurement methods
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Problem-solving and decision-making capability
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
- Membership RICS / CIOB or similar professional body
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within construction
- Knowledge of UK construction practices and NEC contracts

Fixed-term role for 18 months, part-time 24 hours/3 days per week
