An established and growing construction business is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and commercially minded professional to take ownership of the commercial management of a varied portfolio of construction projects, working alongside experienced colleagues and senior leadership.
The successful Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in the commercial function, managing costs and contractual matters from tender through to final account, with ongoing support and the opportunity to progress as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation.
- Measurement and valuation of completed works.
- Preparing and submitting applications for payment and agreeing final accounts.
- Managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, and payments.
- Monitoring project costs and producing accurate financial reporting.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
- Attending site visits and project meetings as required.
- Working independently on day-to-day quantity surveying activities, with guidance from senior members of the commercial team where needed.
- Ensuring commercial processes comply with contractual requirements and company procedures.
- Managing early warning notices and compensation events.
- Carrying out cost value reconciliations, allocations, and investigation work.
- Preparing and presenting weekly budgets and cost value reconciliations.
- Updating and monitoring commercial action trackers.
- Completing daily business reconciliations.

About You
To be successful in this Quantity Surveyor role, you will ideally have:
- A degree, HNC, or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Proven industry experience working as a Quantity Surveyor.
- A sound understanding of construction and commercial processes.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Good time management and the ability to manage your own workload.
- Working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
