Quantity Surveyor: Cladding and Roofing

Location: Nottingham

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Sector: Cladding / Roofing / Building Envelope

A leading cladding and roofing contractor based in Nottingham is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.

The company delivers specialist cladding and roofing projects across a range of sectors, including housing, healthcare, education, and major commercial frameworks.

The Role

The successful Quantity Surveyor will work closely with the Commercial and Operations teams, taking responsibility for the financial and commercial delivery of multiple cladding and roofing projects. The position will be predominantly office-based, with regular site visits required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Estimators throughout the tender process, including tender negotiations.
  • Prepare and analyse project costings covering materials, quantities, labour, and programme.
  • Negotiate contracts, work schedules, and commercial terms.
  • Monitor subcontractor applications and payments.
  • Manage project costs, valuations, and commercial reporting.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor site progress against programme and identify potential commercial or delivery issues.
  • Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks.
  • Prepare and submit monthly valuations.
  • Monitor payments from main contractors and resolve payment issues.
  • Work closely with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Assist with the allocation of site works and monitor progress through to completion.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and project scheduling.
  • Provide commercial advice regarding contractual claims and disputes.
  • Analyse project performance and produce progress reports.
  • Lead and negotiate final accounts through to agreement.

  • HND, BSc, or MSc in Quantity Surveying or a related construction/commercial discipline.
  • Previous Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within cladding, roofing, façade, building envelope, or specialist contracting.
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant industry software.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • A proactive and commercially focused approach.
