Carriera is working with an established property consultancy who are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their Cost Management team in Winchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor who is looking for stronger career development, increased project responsibility and a clear route towards MRICS Chartership.
The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of projects for established public and private sector clients, providing cost management services from initial feasibility and cost planning through to tender, construction and final account.
Our client is ideally looking for someone with around 4–5 years' experience who is already progressing towards professional qualification and could realistically achieve Chartered status within the next two years. Structured APC support and ongoing professional development will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Provide cost management services from project inception through to completion.
- Prepare feasibility studies, cost estimates and cost plans.
- Assist with the management and delivery of multiple projects.
- Review designs and provide cost advice throughout the design process.
- Prepare and issue tender documentation.
- Manage tender processes, analyse returns and prepare client recommendations.
- Advise clients on procurement options and contractual matters.
- Undertake post-contract cost management including valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Prepare financial reports and provide regular cost updates to clients.
- Attend client, consultant and project meetings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and other project stakeholders.
- Support wider client development and business development activity.

Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or another relevant RICS-accredited discipline.
- Ideally 4–5 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor.
- Working towards MRICS qualification.
- Ambition and ability to achieve Chartership within approximately two years.
- Experience across both pre and post-contract cost management.
- Good understanding of construction methodologies and building elements.
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Commercially aware with strong negotiation and organisational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident working directly with clients and project teams.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing your own workload.
- Comfortable using digital cost management and measurement tools.
