Carpet Roles UK are delighted to be assisting their clients, a Commercial / New Build Flooring Contractor based near Colchester, North Essex in their search for additional staffing to assist them with their bulging order books... In this instance they are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to build a key role within a well established operation with expansion plans in 2026/27.
With a 60/40 Commercial / New Build mix of clients you will be capable of running both types of work though by its nature and volume, the New Build side of the workload will likely be where a lot of your time will be spent. The Role
We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor with a focus on commercial flooring to join our dynamic team in East Anglia / Essex. Our client is a leading provider of commercial flooring solutions, known for their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. In this role, you will manage the financial aspects of flooring projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining our clients high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans for commercial flooring projects.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis and provide accurate estimates for materials, labour, and overheads.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
- Monitor project progress and implement cost control measures to mitigate financial risks.
- Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Assist in the procurement of materials and subcontractors, negotiating terms to achieve best value.
- Provide support during the tendering process, including reviewing and assessing bids.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the commercial flooring sector.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and procurement processes.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in using QS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
