Quantity Surveyor Main Contractor

Coulsdon, Surrey

Up to £70,000 plus car allowance

Our client is a well-established and forward-thinking main contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.

The business delivers healthcare and commercial refurbishment and new build projects under JCT and NEC contracts, typically valued between £2m and £10m. The role is office-based in Coulsdon with regular site visits across London and the Home Counties.

They are known for their collaborative culture, supportive management style and high standards of delivery. This is a stable, well-structured environment suited to a Quantity Surveyor who wants long term development within a strong commercial team.

Role Summary

The Quantity Surveyor will take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with project teams, clients and the supply chain, the role focuses on commercial control, risk management and supporting successful delivery, particularly within live healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of refurbishment and new build projects valued £2m-£10m
  • Cost planning, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors and supply chain
  • Preparation and agreement of valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Commercial reporting and cost and value reconciliation
  • Risk management and change control
  • Close liaison with site teams, consultants and clients
  • Supporting junior members of the commercial team where required

Person Specification

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar construction discipline
  • Experience delivering refurbishment or new build projects with a main contractor
  • Would also consider a strong Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to step up
