Company Description
SWT Group is a quantity surveying and cost consultancy with clients and projects across London, Manchester, and Edinburgh, covering residential, commercial, sports, and infrastructure developments. As we continue to scale, we're looking for motivated, commercially astute construction professionals who want to grow alongside the business. This is a chance to join at a pivotal stage; where strong performance is recognised, responsibility is real, and progression is earned.
Role Description
We're recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the business, supporting live projects and pre-construction schemes across our client base. You'll bring hands-on commercial expertise from inception through to final account, working directly with clients, subcontractors, and site teams. The role is primarily office/hybrid-based from Manchester / North-West, with regular travel to client sites for meetings, valuations, and project reviews.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
