🚀 Quantity Surveyor – Water Sector

📍 Derby or Coventry, UK | 💰 up to £65k + Package

I'm working with a leading global engineering and consultancy business that is continuing to grow its commercial management capability across the UK. They are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team, supporting major capital programmes for water companies and the Environment Agency, primarily across the Midlands.

This is a client-side commercial role offering exposure across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and cost planning through to contract administration and final account. There are also opportunities to develop your experience across wider infrastructure sectors, including defence and nuclear.

🔧 The Role:

  • Provide commercial and cost management support across major water infrastructure programmes
  • Administer NEC3/4 ECC contracts, including Options A, C and E
  • Support budget control, payment valuations and cost forecasting
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and assist with resolving contractual issues
  • Work closely with Project Managers on payment certification and Defined Cost determination
  • Support feasibility studies, cost planning and tender documentation
  • Assist with tender evaluation and procurement activities
  • Identify commercial risks and contribute to mitigation strategies
  • Support contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual requirements
  • Monitor costs and assist with variations and claims
  • Contribute to final account preparation and post-project reviews
  • Provide commercial input into strategic bids and business development activity
  • Support continuous improvement and maintain lessons learned across projects
  • Help mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors within the team

👤 What You'll Need:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent relevant qualification
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure
  • Strong practical experience with NEC3/4 contracts, particularly Options A, C and E
  • Experience within water, utilities, environment, defence or nuclear would be highly beneficial
  • Good understanding of cost management, forecasting, procurement and contract administration
  • Experience working across the project lifecycle from pre-contract through to final account
  • Familiarity with CDM regulations and risk management
  • Exposure to ECI/ESI and design & build programmes
  • Progress towards RICS chartership or equivalent professional development
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior QSs
  • Valid CSCS card; Water Hygiene Card desirable
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Willingness to work from the office a minimum of 3 days per week
  • Right to work in the UK
