I’m working with a small consultancy with a friendly and close team, varied projects and people who genuinely enjoy working together. They’re looking for a QS who is self-sufficient, build good client relationships and chip in with the team. Personality is a big thing here, they don't take themselves too seriously, have a laugh in the office and admittedly enjoy an after work drink/bite to eat and office debates. They work on a mix of education, heritage, housing, leisure and commercial projects, mostly across the North West.
They're looking for someone who is ideally degree qualified and MRICS chartered, however would consider who is either working towards this or is keen to start the pathway. They’re also open to an intermediate QS finishing their degree and keen to work towards chartership. Ideally you're commercially switched on, good with people and someone who uses their initiative.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
