Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure
Location: Bedford
Salary: Competitive salary + package

About the Company
We are working with a well-established Tier 1 civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong reputation for delivering major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Bedford.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on an exciting flagship project, gaining exposure to a high-value, technically complex scheme while working alongside an experienced project and commercial team.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of your project packages, working closely with the project delivery team, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a Tier 1 environment and gain experience on a significant infrastructure project.

- Manage the commercial performance of allocated project packages.
- Prepare and maintain budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
- Manage subcontractor procurement and commercial negotiations.
- Prepare and assess subcontractor applications, valuations and payments.
- Manage variations, compensation events and change control.
- Monitor project costs, risks and commercial opportunities.
- Assist with monthly commercial reporting and forecasting.
- Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
- Ensure contractual and commercial procedures are followed.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers and site teams.
- Build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
- Support more junior members of the commercial team where required.
Requirements
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
- Experience working for a main contractor is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual management.
- Experience with NEC contracts would be advantageous.
- Good knowledge of subcontract management, procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Strong commercial awareness and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a project delivery team.
- Experience working on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects would be advantageous.
