Your new company

You will be joining a well-established and specialist civil engineering contractor based in Telford operating within the highways industry. This multi-accredited and award-winning contractor delivers projects for both public and private sector clients and offers a strong pipeline of work as well as excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Telford office with hybrid working (1 day remote per week).

Your new role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from contract award through to final account. Working closely with operational teams, clients and the supply chain, you will be responsible for maximising project profitability whilst maintaining strong commercial controls throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, managing and maintaining project budgets and cost plans
  • Producing accurate valuations and applications for payment
  • Managing subcontract procurement and administration
  • Identifying, pricing and negotiating variations and compensation events
  • Preparing cost forecasts, cash flow forecasts and monthly CVR reports
  • Monitoring project performance and profitability against budget
  • Managing subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and industry standards
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
  • Supporting project teams in achieving successful commercial outcomes
  • Assisting with tender reviews and pre-construction activities when required

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful, you will bring:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar qualification) or experience equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Sound understanding of NEC forms of contract
  • Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation skills and financial management capabilities
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence
