Senior Quantity Surveyor – Yorkshire

Looking for more responsibility, greater autonomy, and the opportunity to influence project performance?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead on pricing competitive tenders and commercially manage multiple live construction projects valued up to £2 million across Yorkshire.

This is a key appointment within our commercial team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work closely with company Directors, and play an important role in the continued growth of the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of up to six live projects at any one time, ensuring they are delivered profitably while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors. Administrative support is provided by our Contracts Managers and outsourced Estimators, allowing you to focus on commercial management and performance.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the financial and contractual management of projects from tender through to final account. Key responsibilities include:

  • Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Client valuations and applications for payment
  • Management and agreement of client variations
  • Cost forecasting and budget control
  • Subcontract procurement
  • Negotiation and appointment of subcontractors
  • Reviewing subcontractor applications for payment and variations
  • Reviewing and administering contract documentation
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
  • Supporting project teams to ensure projects are delivered on programme and within budget
  • Preparation, negotiation and agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors

About You

We are looking for a commercially aware and confident Senior Quantity Surveyor who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound commercial decisions. You will have:

  • A minimum of 8 years' Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry
  • Experience managing multiple live projects simultaneously
  • Strong commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
  • Experience working on construction projects up to £2 million in value
  • A good understanding of JCT forms of contract
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A high level of IT proficiency
  • A proactive, professional and solutions focused approach
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and colleagues
