As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our high-performing team and play a key role in delivering projects across a £70m–£80m turnover business.

The Opportunity

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for managing costs, forecasting profitability and providing commercial support throughout the lifecycle of highway projects.

You'll work closely with Project Managers, NEC colleagues, clients, designers, and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and successfully.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Cost forecasting and budget management
  • Reviewing contract programmes and risk registers
  • Monitoring project profitability and cash flow
  • Producing cost, value, and budget comparisons
  • Supporting commercial decision-making across multiple projects
  • Building effective relationships with clients and project teams

This role offers flexibility to work from any NY Highways depot office across the county, with regular travel to Northallerton and project sites throughout North Yorkshire. A full UK driving licence is essential.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a commercially minded professional who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and delivering results.

You'll ideally have:

  • An HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure
  • Membership of, or willingness to work towards membership of, a professional body such as RICS, CIOB, or ICES
  • A CSCS card, or willingness to obtain one
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong working relationships
  • A commitment to health and safety, quality, environmental standards, and continuous improvement
