Building a sustainable tomorrow
BAM Site Solutions are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a busy contracting business based in Wellingborough. You’ll provide primary commercial support to our delivery teams, with a particular focus on integrated temporary works packages across a varied portfolio of live projects. It’s a role that offers genuine breadth — you’ll see packages of all shapes and sizes, work alongside subject matter experts, and build a well-rounded commercial skill set in a fast-moving operational environment. For the right person, it’s a strong platform for career progression within a structured, high-performing team.
Making Possible
- Overseeing commercial performance of packages across multiple accounts. Taking ownership of the commercial progress of your packages — compiling monthly cost and revenue data, tracking budgets, actuals and forecasts, and negotiating account queries to secure interim payments.
- Subcontractor and supply chain management. Owning subcontractor relationships across your packages, developing and applying SLAs for consistency, and resolving queries promptly so projects keep moving.
- Tendering and procurement. Working closely with our Estimators, you’ll be responsible for the commercial sign-off of tender submissions, analyse returns for best value and compliance, and support the procurement of both labour and materials.
- Cost control and value engineering. Tracking cost progress across current packages and establishing risks and opportunities as they emerge. A core part of the role is robust project-level costing — building an accurate picture of cost at project and package level, and making sure progress claims are properly aligned with works actually completed on the ground.
- Broader commercial support. As well as keeping internal stakeholders updated on the progress of their works, you’ll resolve disputes, advise the wider team on CIS, and generally act as a reliable commercial point of contact across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
