Quantity Surveyor

Location: Beverley
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We’re working with an established and growing construction business who are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.

This is a hands-on commercial role supporting the management of an allocated portfolio of projects. Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors, you will take responsibility for day-to-day commercial administration, financial control and contract management.

The role would suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Controller or commercially focused construction professional looking to take ownership of projects and develop towards a Senior Quantity Surveyor position.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Taking day-to-day commercial responsibility for an allocated portfolio of projects
  • Maintaining accurate project costs, revenue, forecasts and margins
  • Monitoring project performance and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Supporting the preparation and review of project budgets and forecasts
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment
  • Reviewing payment certificates, client approvals and subcontractor applications
  • Managing valuations, payments and final accounts
  • Monitoring project costs against approved orders and budgets
  • Identifying, recording and valuing variations and commercial changes
  • Maintaining variation registers and supporting contractual notices and correspondence
  • Reviewing contract terms and highlighting commercial obligations and risks
  • Supporting the administration of NEC, JCT and other relevant contracts
  • Ensuring subcontract orders reflect the requirements of the main contract
  • Undertaking cash flow forecasting and supporting cash collection
  • Monitoring outstanding applications, certificates, payments, aged debt and retention
  • Working closely with Project Managers and site teams to understand project progress and commercial impact
  • Liaising directly with clients regarding applications, valuations, variations and other commercial matters
  • Attending site visits and project meetings where required
  • Identifying potential cost overruns and escalating issues appropriately

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
