Quantity Surveyor – Gas Mains Replacement

Location: Basingstoke
Salary: £55,000–£60,000 + company car and benefits
Job Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Basingstoke office, 4 days per week
Sector: Gas Distribution / Gas Mains Replacement / Utilities

Onshore Technical are currently looking to speak with experienced Quantity Surveyors for a permanent opportunity supporting gas mains replacement works in the Basingstoke area. This role would suit someone with a strong commercial background across gas, utilities, civils or infrastructure works, who is confident supporting project teams with commercial management, reporting, subcontractor management and cost control.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of gas mains replacement works, working closely with operational teams, subcontractors and the client to ensure projects are managed commercially and contractually in line with programme requirements. The role will include cost management, forecasting, valuations, variations, subcontractor management, reporting and providing commercial support to the wider project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial management of gas mains replacement works
  • Prepare and manage valuations, variations and commercial reports
  • Support cost management, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Manage subcontractor accounts and commercial processes
  • Work closely with operational and site teams
  • Support contract administration and commercial compliance
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Provide commercial advice to project teams where required

Experience Required

  • Quantity Surveying experience
  • Gas, utilities, civils or infrastructure background preferred
  • Strong commercial management experience
  • Subcontractor management experience
  • Experience with valuations, variations and cost reporting
  • Forecasting and financial reporting experience
  • Confident working with operational and site teams
  • Client-facing experience desirable
