Quantity Surveyor
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Liaise with clients in preparing cost estimates, budgets, feasibility assessments, and commercial reports for new and existing projects.
- Examine plans and review specifications, scopes of work, and contract documentation to identify project costs and commercial requirements.
- Prepare and review bills of quantities, schedules of rates, pricing documents, and tender packages.
- Support the procurement process, including obtaining and analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare tender comparisons and provide commercial recommendations to clients.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and identify cost variances at an early stage.
- Prepare regular cost reports, cash-flow forecasts, and financial projections for live projects.
- Measure completed works and assess applications for payment, valuations, and variations.
- Review and negotiate variations, extensions of time, and other commercial change control processes where applicable.
- Identify potential contractual and financial risks and advising clients on appropriate mitigation measures.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts and assessing entitlement to payment.
- Providing commercial advice to senior management and assisting with decisions relating to procurement, cost control, and project profitability.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

- Relevant professional experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, or construction cost management. Energy sector experience would be an advantage.
- Experience in preparing cost estimates, budgets, tender documentation, bills of quantities, and commercial reports.
- Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, clients, consultants, and other construction professionals.
- The ability to analyze commercial information, identify cost risks, and provide clear recommendations to clients and senior management.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with project teams and clients.
