SPECIALIST METAL ROOFING AND CLADDING CONTRACTORS

All Metal Roofing is a specialist contractor for fully supported, hard metal roofing and cladding for commercial and residential properties in the UK and overseas. We also have a substantial flat roofing division, offering all of the UK’s largest manufacturers' systems.

We are seeking to employ professionals within this specialized industry, to carry out duties on a varying size of projects. AMR pride ourselves on excellent staff retention and ensuring everyone employed has the opportunity to progress and expand their knowledge base.

Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor will work as part of our Commercial team, taking responsibility for the commercial and financial management of projects from commencement through to completion. The role involves working closely with departments across AMR, including Design, Procurement and Contracts, to ensure projects are delivered successfully, on time and within budget. This role would suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to further develop their career within a specialist roofing and cladding contractor.

General Tasks and Requirements

  • Working with surveying team, organizing and creating Applications for Payments, variations, etc.
  • Cost reporting and regular reporting of accurate reconciliations and forecasting
  • Keeping track of monthly application figures and ensuring relevant departments are aware of potential budgets, financial constraints, etc.
  • Where required, preparing and issuing Early Warning Notices and Extension of Time Requests (and other contractual requirements specific to the project)
  • Reviewing labor schedules and comparing to progress on site
  • Candidate must be highly organized and keep chronological records of site progress and use information when submitting payment applications
  • Pricing variations and changes in line with subcontract parameters
  • Reviewing drawings and comparing construction drawings to tender drawings, keeping note of any changes
  • Develop and foster collaborative working relationships with Client, Client Representatives, and Supply Chain.
  • Checking site progress (visit site), record progress, and transfer onto monthly payment applications whilst recording/actioning any changes to agreed contract scope
  • Full driving license required
  • CSCS card ideal but not a necessity
  • Degree qualification needed (2:1 or above)
  • Managing several sub-contractors and contractors
  • An in-depth general understanding of various construction sub-contracts (e.g., JCT Design and Build, NEC3, etc.) – mainly NEC.
  • Compiling sub-subcontract orders including enquiry and pricing documentation. General subcontract procurement
  • Timely submissions in accordance with Contract requirements to maximize profit and cash flow.
  • Identifying risks and making recommendations as to how risk can be overcome.
  • Be aware of contractual matters to protect the Company’s position at all times.
  • Good and clear communication skills
  • Approx 1 day a week visiting site

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke packages
  • Relationship building skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive interest in commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
  • Ability to apply learned skills internally, externally & with our supply chain.
  • Positive attitude at all times and the ability to integrate and play an active part in the Construction Team
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Keen to pursue personal development needs
  • Ability to assist and manage junior staff members
  • Preferred ability to use Microsoft Project (to assist in program updates in line with delays, etc.)
  • Willingness to complete CPD courses to broaden/expand understanding of the industry
