Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering Projects North of Scotland | Contract opportunity | Competitive hourly rate
We are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a varied portfolio of civil engineering projects across the North of Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy project environment where your commercial expertise will directly support successful project delivery.
You will take ownership of the commercial management of projects from award through to final account, working closely with operational teams to help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, commercially, and to a high standard. Strong NEC 3 contract experience is essential for this role.
The Role
- Manage project costs, valuations, variations, and commercial reporting.
- Support subcontractor procurement, administration, and commercial management.
- Prepare and submit applications for payment and assist with final account agreements.
- Monitor project performance and provide clear updates on the commercial position.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and areas for cost control across projects.
- Work closely with site teams to support practical, well-informed commercial decisions.

About You
We are looking for someone who is commercially focused, confident working with project teams, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-moving construction environment.
- Has strong NEC 3 contract experience.
- Has at least 3 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
- Has experience in civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or groundworks.
- Is commercially aware and confident managing project costs and contract matters.
- Communicates clearly with site teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Is organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects at different stages.
